Opera, the browser that shows you when you’re being tracked.
With its new update, Opera allows you to see a list of trackers targeting your browser, giving you an idea of how often advertisers and websites are watching you. “Once you turn it on, a shield icon appears in the address bar where you can easily see the number of trackers being blocked, as well as a list of those trackers,” Opera wrote in a press release.
The goal of all this is to raise awareness about the omnipresence of tracking—as if we didn’t already know! However, it might be interesting to see exactly who is tracking you, so you can avoid particularly intrusive or complicated sites.
WigiTip to make it easier:
You can enable the setting globally from the “easy setup” menu and then turn it on or off for each website, just like you would with a typical ad blocker.
Opera’s tracker blocker can detect and block specific scripts, and when combined with the ad blocker, it speeds up websites by up to 76%. Incredible! 😄 On the other hand, many websites detect ad blockers and will refuse to load unless you disable them. Additionally, they can also detect tracker blocking.
More updates:
Opera also unveiled a redesigned address bar that shows suggestions based on your browser history when you start typing a link or search. Finally, it redesigned the bookmarks and history bar, moving them to a sidebar.
